We’re proud to share that our Managing Director, Alice Mazòn, recently represented Forced to Flee in New York at the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70).
Convened annually by UN Women, this year’s 70th session focused on ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls—a critical priority at a time of growing global displacement and instability.
Over several days of dialogue, Alice engaged with policymakers, advocates, and global leaders working to advance transformative solutions for women’s rights. Yet, as she powerfully highlighted, even the most ambitious reforms risk overlooking one of the most vulnerable groups: women on the move.
“While there has been meaningful progress in advancing women’s access to justice, this does not fully address those obscured between institutions and nation-states—women in migration. These women face disproportionate levels of violence and rights violations, yet often have no viable path to recourse.”
At Forced to Flee, we are committed to ensuring that justice frameworks do not stop at borders. Too often, support is limited to moments of contact—without accountability for perpetrators or recognition of the harm endured. This gap leaves violence unaddressed and cycles of abuse unbroken.
Throughout the conference, we joined partners in calling for a more inclusive vision of justice—one that centers mobility, cross-border accountability, and the lived realities of displaced women and girls.
As global conversations on gender justice continue to evolve, we remain committed to amplifying the voices too often left out—and pushing for systems that deliver not just support, but true justice.
