Former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon, is renowned for his strong views on climate change, his establishment of the 2030 Sustainability Goals, and his support of U.N. Women.

Secretary General Ban is deeply passionate about human rights. He convened the first World Humanitarian Summit in May of 2016, and in February 2016, laid out an “Agenda for Humanity”, detailing the humanitarian steps that needed to be taken. Mr. Ban openly criticised the conflict in Syria, urging intra-Syrian negotiations to resume in order to ease the suffering of the Syrian people.

Mr. Ban is credited with putting sustainable development at the forefront of International progress. The 2030 Sustainable Development Goals adopted in September 2015, were introduced as a key element of Ban’s tenure. These goals tackled poverty, climate change, and conflict.
