Mia Maria Conti (18), Czech Republic
Youth Action Coaliton, Co-Lead
Hi, my name is Mia and I am a Co-Lead of the Youth Action Coalition. Coming from an international background and growing up as an expat has taught me that being different or being too young has been an obstacle, which I did not choose to have. I want to work hard to change this, giving young people more opportunities to express their ideas, propose plans and speak up about any matter that concerns them. Young voices will continue to matter more and more, as we are responsible for our future. I am in Youth Action Coalition currently working towards ensuring that young voices are heard, regardless of backgrounds, nationalities or age. Forced to Flee shares this wonderful message along with confidently taking action, that’s why I joined it.
I am currently finishing my high school studies, looking to continue in the UK for university, focusing on history and politics as I am heading towards a career in diplomacy.
Claire Towlerton (21), United Kingdom
Youth Action Coalition, Co-Lead
Hi, my name is Claire. I’ve just graduated from the University of Cambridge where I studied History. At university, I was involved in various human rights societies, including UNICEF and UN Women. These societies allowed me to broaden my awareness of global human rights issues. I intend to use the knowledge I’ve gained from these experiences to hopefully work within the human rights sector, focusing particularly on issues of social inequality.
I joined Forced to Flee as I wanted to use my voice to make a genuine difference and make the world a better place. I am really excited to be working on the Youth Action Coalition as I believe that young people truly have the power to shape the future.
